Our owners, Candra and Wayne knew right from the beginning and their philosophy has remained the same: Healthier and Tasty Plant-based Food for Everyone. Few will know our brand was founded by Candra’s parents more than 40 years ago. Their business started out in humble settings in Ang Mo Kio Industrial Park, mainly serving traditional vegetarian beehoon with side dishes (commonly known locally as zeh beehoon).
Since young, Candra had always helped out at her parents store during school holidays. With little knowledge of the business, helping out at the store was simply fun and her way of “hanging out”. Only in her late twenties that she realised what she always deemed to be fun had developed into a deep seeded passion. The kitchen is where she truly belongs.
Candra and her husband, Wayne officially took over the business from her retiring parents in 2007. In 2013, they set up their own bistro at CT HUB Kallang. Later, a decision was made to rebrand themselves to break away from the conventional norms associated with vegetarian meals. In January 2020, Yuan Bistro was rebranded and now known as Botanict.
Not only life partners at home, they are the perfect duo at work. Both share the same values and beliefs that vegetarian food doesn’t need to be stereotypical, boring and unhealthy. Their passion and intrigue for good tasting plant-based food spur them to redefine vegetarian and vegan food and explore ways to cater and appeal to people from all walks of life. Everything they put their hands on is a reflection of their passion for quality and healthier plant-based meals.
